Color Theory 3 Glue the sample of analogues colors in your sketchbook before starting today’s notes. For paint, you will need one color (primary or secondary) and black and white.

Let’s Review What are complementary colors? What is an afterimage? What can warm colors do? What can cool colors do? Give an example of analogues colors.

Achromatic Achromatic Black, white and grays. Artwork that is executed without color. Also known as… ◦ Gray Scale ◦ Black and White ◦ Black and Noir

Monochromatic: One Color

Hue Hue is another word for color. The attribute which describes colors by name. Example: red, pink, cerulean, etc.

Tint Tinting is combining white with a color to make it lighter. Commonly referred to as pastel

Shade Shade is when black is mixed with a color to make it darker.

Tone Tone is when gray is added to a color It can also bring down the intensity of the color
