Tri-metal block: As-received 3 Pilar Fernandez Pison - 1 February 2016 One 100 mm x 100 mm x 72 mm block of Ti/Ni/SS, bonded by explosion welding, was received for mechanical and optical qualification of the two bonded interfaces.

Ultrasonic Measurement 5 Pilar Fernandez Pison - 1 February 2016 SS – Ni interface Ti – Ni interface An initial qualification of both interfaces was performed via ultrasonic testing by immersion (5MHz/minimum size detection=1mm) No indications over 1 mm found. Ti Ni SS Ni Ti

Extra EB welded Ti gr-2 in head section to accommodate both interfaces in gauge length. -2 shear samples each one in a different interface, in L direction. -1 leak-tightness sample (thickness = 2mm).
