1. Objectives : 1) to study the relationship between fluids and seismicity along the Sea of Marmara fault system ; 2) to carry out site surveys prior to the implementation of permanent seafloor observatories in the Marmara Sea through the ESONET (European Seafloor Observatory Network).

2. Proposed actions 1)systematic detection of fluid and gaz escapes using at each site the most modern scientific echo sounder for fishery applications (SIMRAD EK60) mounted on the Ifremer AUV. Microbathymetric data will also be collected together with EK60 data 2)the fine scale imagery of the fluid conduits up to the sediment surface, at one selected site, using the 3D, High Resolution seismic system available at Ifremer ; 3)recording (for ~ 1 year) of micro-seismicity, together with sediment pore pressure and fluid flows variations using OBSs, piezometers and flowmeters.
