Location: south-west of Romania Serbian Republic at south-west Total surface: 8,520 km 2,(3.6% out of the national territory; 3 rd place among the country’s counties. 2 municipalities - Reşiţa and Caransebeş 6 towns – Anina, Bocşa, Băile Herculane, Oţelu Roşu, Moldova Nouă, Oraviţa 69 communes. 4. The climate of the county is temperate continental with Mediterranean influences. Relief: geographically, Caraş-Severin county is a mountainous area (65.4% of the total surface) Timiş, Caraş,Cerna, Nera Rivers form the rivers network. Tourism Caras-Severin county has a significant potential: natural resources and resorts, historic monuments, art and ethno folk There are five important areas: Semenic mountains - winter sports( snow lasts for almost 6 months/year) Muntele Mic - wild places, beautiful landscapes, glacial lakes Cerna’s Valley – mineral and thermal waters Baile Herculane resort. Anina Mountains include gorges with wild beauties and also resorts; Buhui and Marghitas lakes, Buhui cave, Minis Gorges and spring and waterfall Bigar Iron Gates include one of the most spectacular defile – Danube’ Gorges CARAŞ SEVERIN COUNTY COUNCIL
