4 Near the end of Nevsky's life he took Monastic vows and became a monk in the Russian Orthodox faith Shortly after his death veneration of Nevsky began to take place due to his powerful leadership of the Russian people, genius strategic prowess, and diplomatic intelligence Over 200 years after his death Alexander Nevsky was canonized as a Saint within the Russian Orthodox Church. Saint Nevsky remains today an astounding figure of the middle ages and an Icon of Russian Orthodox faith.

5 Alexander Nevsky was a practitioner of Russian Orthodox Christianity. Eastern Christianity had a heavy focus on Religious Icons and paragons of faith Throughout the life of Alexander Nevsky he made multiple decisions that heavily influenced the progression of the Russian Orthodox Church, as well as prevented the spread of Western Religious influence (Roman Catholicism etc) in his Kingdom. Nevsky was a man of faith his entire life and often times imparted ruling based on perceived Religious ideal
