2. Expectations in LKS2 ~ fractions and decimals National Curriculum 2014 ~ higher expectations for all children, in all subjects. Maths is broken into the following: – Addition and subtraction – Multiplication and division – Fractions (Y4 also includes decimals) – Measures – Geometry: properties of shape (Y4 also incudes position and direction) ~ used to be known as shape – Statistics ~ used to be known as graphs I have included copies of the Y3/4 National curriculum requirements in your hand-out pack.

3. How we teach Maths at Treeton C of E Primary school Each class will have the following: Daily lesson of up to an hour, usually the first session in the morning, consisting of: Mental and oral ~ warm up Main session Plenary (to assess understanding and prepare children for the next steps in their learning) Maths is usually tested at the end of a unit, however this will change as new resources are being developed, in light of the change in the National Curriculum, and are likely to be tested on a half-term or termly basis (please ask me, or your child’s class teacher if you would like to know more ~ or write it on the feedback sheet, and I will get back to you)

4. What is a fraction? A fraction is a part of a whole. There are two numbers to every fraction: Numerator 2 (How many parts we are talking about or using or needing) Denominator 7 (How many parts there are in total or altogether)
