The price of a given level of computing power will be cut in half approximately every 18 to 24 months It is useful in understanding where we have been and where are we going This caused marketing and engineering departments of semiconductor manufacturers to focus on the increase in processing power. The improvement in hardware does not mean improvement in the software.
