7. Apply and Get Admitted Participate by getting admitted into a college. May have to take a placement test and satisfy other college criteria.

8. Student Choice You choose the course(s) that fit your pathway. Each must be secular, apply toward a degree or workforce certification and confer college credit.

9. Graduate with College Credit You can earn up to 30 college credit hours per academic year; includes summer term. Your counselor will tell you your specific credit eligibility. No more than 120 college credit hours while in the program.

10. Summer Requirements CCP will include summer term courses beginning in 2016. Rules governing summer enrollment are expected to be in effect mid-February 2016.

11. Summer Requirements Summer term will apply as the 1st term of the next school year. A college’s summer term may begin in May. There may be multiple sessions within a summer term.

12. Summer Requirements If you want to participate in summer term, you must submit your letter of intent to participate early enough to apply and gain admission to the college and register for course(s) in the spring.

14. A semester college course of 3 or more credits counts as a one-year high school class.

15. Under what scenarios can a qualified student use College Credit Plus?

16. You want to take college courses to satisfy your high school graduation requirements. You completed your high school graduation required classes and you want to begin college work. You want to explore college and take a course in a subject that interests you.

17. Books and Fees Students attending a public college do not pay for either books or fees. Students attending a private college may have a cost that includes fees. FHS will collect books from students when the course is completed.

20. Weighted Grades College courses must be weighted equally to the greatest weight of Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate or honors classes, in the same subject area. AP, IB, Honors Class College Course

23. What are the potential benefits? Expands curricular choices Provides opportunities/choices for specific learning in area of interest Allows students to earn college credit while in high school at minimal cost Allows students to experience college-level work while making post-high school plans

24. Does college credit transfer after graduation? Many entry-level courses earned at an Ohio public college are guaranteed to transfer to any other Ohio public college Credits earned at private colleges will be evaluated by the institution you are seeking to attend Credits earned at any institution are subject to review by private institutions that you are seeking to attend

25. How are high school graduation requirements affected? High school graduation requirements will not be waived as a result of participation in CCP Students will not receive a diploma until after the course is successfully completed and the graduation requirement is met, including state testing requirements

26. Will CCP grades appear on my high school transcript? Yes. High school credit awarded for courses successfully completed under CCP will satisfy or exceed the graduation requirements of the school district CCP courses will be listed by the course title on the transcript

27. What are the potential risks and consequences? Increased responsibility for learning Reduced opportunities to participate in high school activities/athletics, based on time restrictions (time of day course offered and workload requirements) Possible affect on GPA Increased time and responsibility for travel Increased potential for scheduling conflicts each semester Academic gaps in curriculum of sequential coursework between high school and college

28. How does CCP impact athletic eligibility? A student athlete must remain eligible in accordance with OHSAA bylaws To be athletically eligible, students must be passing five, one credit courses or the equivalent per grading period Most CCP courses taken during a semester will equal one Carnegie unit, allowing students to earn more than the required five for athletic eligibility

29. What if I fail a class? Classes failed or withdrawn with an “F” will receive an “F” on the high school and college transcripts and will be calculated into the high school and college GPA Students will be responsible to reimburse the district for the amount paid for the failed course The district will hold credits received for high school courses taken until reimbursement has been made

30. What are my academic and social responsibilities? Follow rules and regulations set by the college/university Follow rules and regulations set by the high school Talk to your school counselor and college representatives on a regular basis to check your progress

31. What are the next steps? Submit your Intent to Participate Contract to FHS Guidance by April 1. Contact the college for information, application forms, and criteria for acceptance into CCP Follow the procedures of the college/university to apply to CCP and to enroll in courses Communicate with your FHS counselor about your plans for scheduling Register for classes and provide your FHS counselor with your college schedule

32. Student Deadline! Feb. 22 - April 1 Submit your contract to Guidance if you intend to participate next year.
