© Copyright 2006 POSC What is it? A standard format for rectification data for scanned well logs. 'Rectification' calibrates well log depths and resolves skew, non-linearity, and other distortions. Meta data describes the well, wellbore, and well log. A standard, open format for producers, consumers, and vendors A prospective WITSML object

Geologists evaluating prospects want to quickly and efficiently generate cross- sections from scanned well logs. –digitizing all logs is too costly –digitizing selected logs is too slow A single standard to make the vision possible, reducing industry costs and enabling fair competition
