3. This book is about a boy named matt who moved into the woods by himself while his father went to go get his family in Quincy. Matt Gets hungry and climbs a tree to get honey But unfortunately, he gets stung and falls out of the tree and into the water. Two Indians named sacknis and attean help him out of the water. Sacknis wants attean to learn how to read and Speak english.

4. While the reading lessons go on Attean teaches Matt to survive in the woods by showing matt how to make bow and arrows(60-61), fishing hooks(49), traps(40-41), and gum(58). The biggest challenge was facing a mother bear! When matt and attean work together they can fend for each other and they never give up.

5. Our favorite part of the story was when the Indians invited Matt for a festival(p. 77). The festival was for the bear(p. 78). When everyone gathered around the fire, Attean told the story of how him and Matt killed the bear.(p. 80)
