2 Serif vs. San Serif Serif Fonts have a tail or stroke which makes it easier for the eye to recognize words. Sans Serif Fonts do not have tails and are commonly used in headlines. 3 Type Mask Tool When you use the Horizontal Type Mask tool or Vertical Type Mask tool, you create a selection in the shape of the type. Type selections appear on the active layer, and can be moved, copied, filled, or stroked just like any other selection.

4 Type Mask Tool Open any image in Photoshop, Select the Type Mask Tool. Choose a thick, bold font and a large font size to get the best results. Then Simply click and type over the image. You can then drag the selected text to a new document and use it for whatever means necessary.
