The scientific method is a series of steps used to solve a problem Everyone uses it, not just scientists Hypothesis- –Possible answer to a question Theory –A hypothesis that has a lot of evidence to support it. –Many people accept it –Not a proven fact, may change if new evidence is found. Example: dinosaur theory

3. Scientists DO NOT prove things Don’t use the word “proof” -Scientists gather evidence to support their hypothesis Sometimes scientists solve problems unexpectedly while working on another problem. Ex: Alexander Fleming Penicillium mold; 1928 -Contaminated bacteria culture -Clear rings due to antibiotic

If I wear a sleeveless shirt, then I will be more comfortable. Wear a sleeveless shirt (In my mind) I am more comfortable. I accept my hypothesis To myself
