Activity I In this activity, you will pass around the Positive Attitude Ball around the classroom. When you catch the ball, the closet statement or action that is closest to your right thumb you will have to perform. For example, if you get the ball and the closest thing that touches your right thumb says “Give someone a compliment” you will have to give someone a compliment. This way, not only will you make someone feel better and feel more positive, but you will feel the same as well!

Expecting The Best Believe it or not, you can change the way you think. You’re a negative thinker – one who expects to fail – you can change your thinking style by putting images of positive results in your mind. It’s not always easy to do. But with a little practice, you can become a pro at expecting the best – and getting it! Activity 2 Try your hand at expecting the best of a situation. You will read a situation from the book Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day. Figure out how Alexander can make this situation into a positive one. Make a list below of all the positive thoughts or outcomes that might turn out if you focus on he positives. Explain your thoughts below. Situation: At breakfast Anthony found a corvette Sting Ray car kit in his breakfast cereal box and Nick found a Junior Undercover Agent code ring in his breakfast cereal box but in my breakfast cereal box all I found was breakfast cereal. The positives: Alexander had a good and healthy breakfast and many children don’t have breakfast. Alexander has a family to eat breakfast with and many children don’t have a family. Activity II
