5
Jesus calls out religious show-offs. (Luke 18:9-14)
6
“He also told this parable to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and treated others with contempt: “Two men went up into the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. The Pharisee, standing by himself, prayed thus: ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other men, extortioners, unjust, adulterers,

or even like this tax collector. I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I get.’ But the tax collector, standing far off, would not even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me, a sinner!’ I tell you, this man went down to his house justified, rather than the other. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted.”
8
Don’t be a religious show-off.
9
Jesus calls out hypocrites. (Matthew 23:27-28)
10
“ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs, which outwardly appear beautiful, but within are full of dead people's bones and all uncleanness. So you also outwardly appear righteous to others, but within you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.”
11
Fight against hypocrisy.
12
Jesus calls out His disciples. (Matthew 5:20)
13
“For I tell you, unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.”
14
Listen to Jesus’ call.
15
What does being more than good look like in real life?
16
Jesus didn’t play it safe and He doesn’t want you to either.
