A few preliminary thoughts… It is the trajectory we’ve all been on for years… 3 intersecting crises in Youth Ministry: 1.Kids are Hurt (2.0) 2.Rise of the “Nones” 3.We’re losing kids (Hemorrhaging Faith & Sticky Faith)

Kids have been “hurried” (Elkind) An overview of research on kids: What data shows us… Less adult support for kids More stress, pain than ever before Adolescence itself has changed

The most stressed generation in history What is it to grow up in today’s world? “TODAY’S child has become the unwilling, unintended victim of overwhelming stress – the stress borne of rapid, bewildering social change and constantly rising expectations.” - The Hurried Child, David Elkind (1981,1992, 2001, 2006)
