1 GRHAM The Key to… Global Religious Health Assets Mapping GRHAM is a project to map all Christian health care facilities and programs throughout the developing world. Ray Martin, Phyllis Stuckey, and Allison Herling CCIH Annual Conference, May 29, 2005

2 Why Mapping? Other Agencies recognize the need to work with and through FBO networks. For example: –WHO service availability mapping (SAM) –(IHP) African Religious Health Assets Project –USAID, World Bank, etc. –Pharmaceutical companies (e.g. Pfizer provided an initial grant for funding GRHAM project)

3 Goals of GRHAM Centralize documentation and maps of FBO facilities, programs and projects. Create and manage a website and database to share that information as widely as possible Train and encourage GRHAM users to: –Dialogue with Ministries of Health and major donors –Improve coordination among service providers –Provide better data for planning –Facilitate distribution of resources to FBOs

4 Who Benefits from GRHAM? Targeted audiences include: Donor and International Agencies Local governments and Ministries of Health Christian Health Associations Christian international health organizations U.S. Missions Boards Churches and individuals interested in Christian international health work Researchers

5 Implementation a dual-track approach 1. Sharing available data by Country, Organization, Programs 2.Defining the scope: outputs, type of data, definition of terms 3.Developing the database 4.Develop strategy for obtaining information 5.Develop strategy for training and encouraging GRHAM users in using the database
