Parts of Test: 67% covers factual knowledge Format: 33 multiple choice 18 identification of geographical elements on map 33% Analysis and Interpretation Format: 2 short essays Student choice of 2 out of 3 short readings based on primary and secondary source materials. Extra-Credit: Identify 6 key concepts from visual images

Active Study Suggestions: Review notes and text: chapters as indicated Practice map skills using review maps: (Can you write the names of Major Bodies of Water, Rivers/Straits, States/Empires, Cities?) View PowerPoint class notes. Take Practice Quizzes. Analyze past test and quiz performance. What are your strengths/weaknesses? Look for the Big Picture. What are the key themes/ concepts? Study chapter and section headings. Get started early; set personal deadlines and do not cram the night before.

Test Taking Strategies 1.Look through the test first to get an overview. Read directions carefully. 2.Budget your time. Although the test is divided 67/33, (factual/interpretive) allow more time than that would suggest for the latter. 3.Leave 5 minutes at end to check that you have completed and have put your name, etc. on all parts of test.
