Purpose of Course (p. 2) Encourage collectiveness/responsibility “All of us had to learn how to work together, divide jobs, and prioritize activities. Purpose of Course (p.2) Learner will be “uncomfortable” This environment will foster a willingness to take risks… be “active seekers” of knowledge be able to endure “discomfort” to learn a new skill be able to focus on process - not just the outcome Important growth requires change Provide support in the classroom and at home “Students get to learn in a different way and get to use their creativity…more interesting than just plain old textbook learning.” Alia Newman-Boulle

Course Curriculum (p.4) Aligned to State Standards Content will be connected to history & English Most novels/short stories will be historical Projects may be connected to both classes Most formal writing will happen 1 st semester: State writing test beginning of March Honors class High quality, thoughtful, collaborative work Not more work but more depth (cooking a meal) Course Outline (take blue handout)
