The journey from exodus 4.18-31 slavery to sonship When Israel was a child, I loved him, and out of Egypt I called my son. But the more I called Israel, the further they went from me. It was I who taught Ephraim to walk, taking them by the arms; but they did not realize it was I who healed them. — Hosea 11.1-2 Is not Ephraim my dear son, the child in whom I delight? Though I often speak against him, I still remember him. Therefore my heart yearns for him; I have great compassion for him — Jeremiah 31.20 How gladly would I treat you like sons I thought you would call me ‘Father’ and not turn away from following me. — Jeremiah 3.19
