6 Thursday, January 29, 2015 BRAINTEASER: Summarize what our mission will be on Wednesday, 2/4 at Challenger. Use the Mission Overview for details.

7 Our Mission Goals 1. Purpose: One crew of astronauts is traveling to Mars (in Mars Transport Vehicle) to replace the existing crew of astronauts (Mars Control). 2. Collect data and geologic samples to analyze. 3. Launch probes to the two moons of Mars, Deimos and Phobos. 4. Have a safe and successful mission by working together. 5. Communicate and come to CONSENSUS about mission decisions.

8 Today’s Goals Learning Target: I will be able to decide what important symbols will go on our Mission Patch. Objective: I will work with my table group and with my class to design a Mission Patch that will represent our crew at Challenger.

11 Mission Patch What? Mission Patch = insignia worn by crew that represents the spirit and purpose of our mission Why? Flight Directors will have one of you present the patch the day of Challenger. It brings unity to our mission as a crew!
