In This Manner, Pray Matthew 6:9-13 Reverence for God. Desire for the Lord’s will to be done. Acknowledge our need for God. Ask for forgiveness. Pray for continual guidance. Praise and honor to God.

Persistence in Prayer Faith is having the confidence that God hears our prayers. Faith is also persistent in making requests known to God. –Luke 18:1-8: The widow and the unjust judge. –Luke 11:5-8: The Friend at Midnight. –Luke 11:9-10: Keep asking, seeking, knocking. 1 Thess. 5:17: Pray unceasingly.

What To Pray For Phil. 4:6-7: Personal concerns. 1 Tim. 2:1-2: Civil government Matt. 5:44: Enemies Eph. 6:18-19: Preachers of God’s word 2 Thess. 3:1-2: The spread of the gospel. Col. 4:2; Heb. 13:15: With thanksgiving

Things to Avoid in Prayer Matt. 6:5-8: Hypocrisy James 1:5-7: Doubt Preaching vs. Praying. –Making a point to people rather than making requests known to God.

Conclusion Prayer is to direct our hearts to God. Through it we acknowledge Him and rely on Him for all things. Life without prayer will never grow. A prayerful life cannot help but grow and draw closer to God. Let us, therefore, learn how we ought to pray.
