Letter Grades: A, B, C, D, E Grades A, B, and C are considered satisfactory grades. Parents will be contacted if students are approaching D. Parents will be contacted if students are receiving D or E. Note: Teachers will communicate concerns through the Friday Folder. Please be sure to check the behavior checklist for updates on your student’s progress. Friday Folders should be signed and returned the following school day.

Third Grade Assessments MAP (monitoring student potential) 3 times (BOY, Mid, EOY) Mid year only for students who are BGL (or very weak OGL) in reading PARCC (replaces MSA) 1 time CoGAT (Cognitive Aptitude Test- possible G/T placement) 1 time December 1-3 (during math) Assessments in all Subject Areas: -Math -Writing -Vocabulary -Science -Soc. Positive Behaviors are reinforced Daily Points – every student starts the day with 5 points (students have the chance to earn more points throughout the day; students can also lose points for misbehaviors) Please check your student’s agenda book daily and initial at the bottom of the page. Activity Clubs every 2 weeks. To attend the Clubs in Quarter 1, students will need 80% of the total possible points. The number of points needed to attend clubs will change. SOAR ticket trade-in days every alternate week. S - Safe O - Organized A - Always Respectful R - Responsible

5 Point System & Clubs Students will begin the day with 5 points and every student should strive to stay on 5 or above. Students will record their daily total in their take-home folder (primary) and agenda books (intermediate). SOAR Celebration Clubs will occur every 2 weeks. Teams will brainstorm ideas for Clubs with students and will offer 3-4 twenty-thirty minute rotations: active activity, quiet activity, arts and crafts, movie, etc. Possible ideas include: read with a flashlight, dance party, bring in a board game, arts & crafts, drawing, etc. To attend the Clubs, students will need 80% of the total possible points for the first quarter. This percentage will go up throughout the year and parents will be informed. If you’re interested in donating supplies or assisting with Clubs, please contact your child’s teacher.

SOAR Tickets Students will continue to earn SOAR tickets. Two students’ names from every grade level will be randomly pulled on Monday mornings for the SOAR School-wide Lottery. Names will be announced on the a.m. announcements. Students who are picked will have their picture taken with Ms. Bowen to be displayed on the SOAR bulletin board. Students will also pick a SOAR reward from a menu of choices.

Parents need to notify the teacher 24 hours before visiting the classroom so teachers can better prepare their information for you. SCHEDULING A CONFERENCE

Parent Volunteers Art- Smocks are frequently used in the art studio and need to be washed about every two weeks. If you are interested in helping out please list your name and email. Smocks can be picked up every other Friday from the art room. Media Center- We need 2 - 4 parents who would come in weekly or on a rotation (Tuesdays and Fridays) to shelve books. Experience with shelving books is preferred, but willing volunteers will be trained. Time of day to be determined by volunteer's schedule. Sign up on Signupgenius.com OR Email the teachers.
