+ What to expect in English II All of you took the released English II EOC. Block 1 the class average was 59.1% Block 2 the class average was 61.38 Block 3 the class average was 48.32% The majority of 10 th graders who took the English II EOC as the final…Did NOT pass. In order to ensure every single one of you passes the EOC in May this is what you will expect…

+ Class Work Expectations 99% of the English II EOC is READING COMPREHENSION. Everyday, you will walk into room 409 and find a book to read for the first 10-15 minutes. This will become a HUGE part of your success on the EOC and your final grade. You will keep a reading log that will be 100 points/week

+ Class Work Expectations I AM responsible to teach you YOU are responsible to learn IF you interrupt the learning environment, I will remove you from the class. Interruption – speaking out of term, not participating, not following directions, on the phone, being disrespectful, insubordination. THERE is ZERO tolerance for interrupting the learning environment. If that means I have to remove 7-10 people from the room, I will. Your education is at stake. You matter, I matter, We matter, This matters. Get your LIFE together.

+ Rules and Behavioral Expectations 1. Be on time 2. Be ready to learn 3. Pay attention and follow instructions the first time 4. You need to raise your hand to be recognized during class time 5. Treat others as you wish to be treated 6. No eating or drinking in class 7. You may not use your cell phone during class 8. No bathroom breaks

+ Procedure First 10/15 minutes will begin with READING, everyday. You must put books away in a NEAT, RESPECTFUL, and TIDY manner. Paper is in the draw, if you need to borrow a pencil there in the blue bin. Have material ready before class begins. All assignments will be turned into your respective bin at the END of class. Do NOT hand it to me directly. On each assignment it is imperative you write: NAME: DATE: BLOCK: I DO NOT accept later work up to 5 days late You NEED to raise your hand for permission to get out of your desk. Assigned seating will begin next Monday

+ Consequences 1. Verbal warning 2. Change seats/ Change classroom 3. Call security to be escorted to ISS with referral 4. Call Home

+ Absences/Make-Up Work Policy IF you are absent, YOU are responsible for making up class work. I will NOT chase you down. 10 absences + with no recovery = F You have 5 days to make up missing work. After 5 days and no make up work = 0
