What is a fraction? Fraction: a number that names part of a whole or part of a group Numerator: the part of a fraction which tells how many parts of the whole are being counted Denominator: the part of a fraction which tells how many equal parts there are in the whole

Pattern Blocks Get out your yellow hexagon. How many trapezoids does it take to cover the hexagon? What would be the fraction of 1 trapezoid in the hexagon?
