10 Main Attractions The Danube Delta Before reaching the sea the mighty Danube River forms the second largest and best preserved of Europe's deltas: miles of rivers, canals, marshes, tree-fringed lakes and reed islands. The Danube Delta is a wildlife enthusiast’s (especially a bird watcher’s) paradise.

11 Romanian People Gheorghe Hagi, born February 5 1965, is a former Romanian football player. He was famous for his passing, close control, long shots and was regarded as one of the best attacking midfielders in Europe. Galatasaray fans called him 'Commandante'(The Commander). Nicknamed "The Maradona of the Carpathians", he is considered a hero in his homeland as well as in Turkey. He has won his country's "Player of the Year" award six times, and is regarded as one of the best football players of the 20th century.

12 Romanian People Nadia Elena Com ă neci, born November 12,1961 is a Romanian gymnast, winner of three Olympic, and the first gymnast ever to be awarded a perfect score of 10 in an Olympic gymnastic event. She is one of the best-known gymnasts in the world. Com ă neci was named as one of the athletes of the century by the Laureus World Sports Academy.

14 About Gorj & Targu-Jiu Gorj is a county of Romania, in Oltenia, with its capital city at Targu Jiu. The main river, which collects all the smaller rivers, is the Jiu River. It is surrounded by the Southern Carpathians in the West and in the East and to the South, the heights decrease through the hills to a high plain at the Western end of the Romanian Plain.

22 The beginnings of this learning institution are set in year 1890, known as “Tudor Vladimirescu Secondary School for boys”, receiving its “National College” title in 1999.

35 Over 500 students have participated in contests. 96 of them were awarded within the county, and also 10 went all the way through to the national competitions.

36 This school has been, and still is the target of the most partnerships between it and different schools, not only Romanian ones, but also of different nationalities, like Turkish, Polish, Portuguese, Italian, and Dutch. Multilingual projects

37 Some of our projects Europe, my story(2013-2015) It addresses to the 12 to 15 year old pupils, and wishes to develop their capacity of communicating in foreign languages through the tales’ common language.

38 Together in a United Europe(2013- 2015) This project targets the 16 to 19 years old students. They are going to develop, by participating, their IT skills, foreign languages assimilation, and getting to know about Europe in a dynamic and stimulative way.

41 The Result Common Dictionary of Personalitiesfr om Tg-Jiu and Istanul, won the 2nd place at the competition Made for Europe in 2013.

42 Between these two schools lasting ties have established, as a result of the mixed school activities (the Romanian pupils have assimilated minimal Turkish lexicon elements, and so did them, which have learned basic words of our language), through English.

50 French Drama Club We have our outstanding team of young former actors and actresses, coordinated by our French teachers, Rodica Banciu and Loredana Stoian, directed by Cristi Naum, team which has made its debut with the real successful adjustment after Jean Cocteau’s, “Antigone”, as our students came back home from the National Festival of lyceum Francophone from Pecs, Hungary, holding the prize for the best theatrical duet.

55 Last but not least… Our great basketball team! I don’t think it would be too much if I would say that we have the best basketball team any school around here has ever had.

57 Sometimes playing for noble causes as well… On March the 4 th, this year, our school has had a basketball match with our local team, C.S. Energia Rovinari, to help little Lidia in her fight with lymphoma cancer. The amicable game was entitled “One game for a life!”.

58 Generations and generations has this school taught, that it even has become like a tradition for some families. It has given the society many doctors, engineers, journalists, lawyers, professors, which, some of them continued to teach where they have been taught.
