25 February 2013 GET CONNECTED TO YOUR FUTURE! Summarize the ENTIRE article in 3-5 sentences. Who is the audience? What is the tone? Does it change? What do you notice about the structure (the way the text looks/ is laid out)? Is this just an informational text or do you see elements of a short story? Why would the author organize this magazine article this way? Words you don’t know? Can you figure them out from context? Do you need to look them up? Objectives: Summarize Identify: tone audience author’s purpose structure/format of text Vocabulary: identify and define words using a dictionary and/or context clues
