Lenin forms the Soviet Union After the Czar is overthrown, a democratic provisional government is set up Soviet – A workers council. Many refused to continue fighting the war. Lenin had their support The people of Russia voted Lenin’s supporters out of power, so Lenin let a coup and overthrew the government, setting up a communist dictatorship

USA Enters World War I Great Britain intercepted Telegram and gave to USA U.S. lent a lot of money to the Allies, and If Germany won they would not get Repaid Officially, U.S. enters to protect shipping And in response to telegram Unofficially…Loans, corporate profits and Common culture with the British influenced our entry

World War I Ends Germans, starving from the British blockade, overthrow the Kaiser and ask for peace. Following the abdication of the Kaiser, Germany organized a Republic that signed the Armistice on November 11, 1918. Germans ask for U.S. president Woodrow Wilson’s help to negotiate a fair peace

Cost of the war 15 million people were killed. –About 1/3 of the soldiers that fought in the war were wounded. The economic cost was severe. –The European economy was left in shambles and the U.S. emerged as the dominant world economic power. –Signaled the end of European dominance of the world
