2 Two Parts of the Enthymeme 1. The claim. The library is the most important building on campus. This is an idea stated as an assertion.

3 How to find a claim  Your claim is the answer to a question at issue.  Each type of question leads to a different conclusion and structure  Six types of questions at issue:  Fact = Does something exist?  Definition = What is it?  Interpretation = What does it signify?  Value = Is it good/bad/beneficial/harmful etc  Consequence = Will this cause that to happen?  Policy = What should be done about it?

4 2. The reason. The library is the most important building on campus because it creates a space for collaboration. Note: The primary reason for your thesis can be anything, but you should pick the best reason as it will be the roadmap of your whole paper.
