Overview By utilizing discussions, demonstrations and an interactive website students will learn sidewalk safety/ pedestrian safety. Geared towards first and second graders

Objectives Using sidewalk safety skills – Recognize hazards – Understand the concept of: Stop Look Listen

Introduction Activity Have students gather together for a discussion Express concerns about safety Act out the: – Walk light – Don’t walk light Follow simple rules

Website Students work individually on the interactive website 10 minutes to complete Rules of the game are explained and demonstration is made on how to move about the road safely The students need to use handout as a way to guide themselves through the website handout

Lesson Students will be given handouts that will be done in comparison to websitehandouts After handouts are completed gather students on rug Explain and play red light green light

Closure In small groups answer questions to the best of their abilityquestions Discuss within the group why you chose these answers

Adaptations Teacher and aides can assist students If the gym is accessible play red light green light If children with learning disabilities need one on one assistance, provide this.

Homework Additional worksheetsworksheets Handout for parents – Parents need to sign paper acknowledging that they have readpaper
