21 Example: She was a good-natured dog. good-natured is an adjective describing the dog. Create three sentences using a hyphen to separate compound words operating as adjectives.

22  Ms. Deere’s example: I’m going to tell you the story of the three – but shh– don’t tell anyone that I told you this story. Create two sentences using a dash in this way.

23  One girl in particulate – Jane— decided to ignore the sheriff's warnings. You will rarely use a dash like this.
