Lowered taxes helped Americans spend our way out of a short recession (slow-down) in 1982

5 “REAGANOMICS” National Debt grew during Reagan’s presidency Lower taxes, higher defense spending Medicare & Social Security grew as old people lived longer

6 “REAGANOMICS” Reagan pushed for “deregulation” of businesses Let them do what they want more, without the govt. keeping as close an eye on them The EPA had its budget cut, pollution increased Deregulation of “savings and loan” companies led to a one day market crash in 1987 Computer systems screwed up the buying and selling of stocks
