3
Proving Triangles Congruent There are five ways Yesterday we learned SSS, SAS Today we continue!
4
Angle-Side-Angle Postulate (ASA) If two angles and the INCLUDED side of a triangle are congruent to two angles and the INCLUDED side of another triangle, then the triangles are congruent.
5
Angle-Angle-Side Theorem (AAS) If two angles and a non-included side of a triangle are congruent to two angles and a non-included side of another triangle, then the triangles are congruent.
6
Proof: AAS Hint: Do not use AAS, we are trying to PROVE AAS!
7
Hypotenuse-Leg Theorem (HL) In a right triangle, if the hypotenuse and one leg are congruent to the hypotenuse and one leg of another right triangle, then the two triangles are congruent.
8
Proof: HL
9
Proving Triangles Congruent SSS SAS ASA AAS HL The order of the letters matters: SAS means two sides with the angle between ASA means two angles with the side between AAS means two angles and a side NOT between
10
Prove: ΔABC ≅ ΔDEF
