Through volunteer labor and donations of money and materials, Habitat builds and rehabilitates simple, decent houses alongside our homeowner partner families. Habitat houses are sold to partner families at no profit with no-interest mortgages. Homeowner’s monthly mortgage payments are used to build more Habitat homes. Families partner with HFH through hundreds of hours of sweat equity and homeowner education. How does it work?
8
Families in need of decent shelter apply through our local Habitat affiliate office. A volunteer family selection committee chooses homeowners based on: Level of need Willingness to partner Ability to repay the loan A nondiscriminatory family selection policy is followed. Neither race nor religion is a factor in choosing the families who receive Habitat houses. How are partner families selected?
9
Our Homebuyer Program Rehab Construction | HFH purchases an existing home and rehabs it For accepted families, they can travel down one of two paths with Habitat: New Construction | HFH purchases a lot and builds a new home

Our Home Repair Program In addition to the Homebuyer Program, Habitat also works with lower income families who own and live in a home that has critical repairs. These are called Home Repair projects. These projects include: Critical Home Repair – addressing the safety of the home structure such as: major roof repair or replacement; floor or wall repair or replacement Exterior Preservation - façade repairs to improve the appearance of the home such as: minor siding, trim or roof repair; painting; repairing a sagging porch Weatherization – improving energy efficiency or addressing indoor air quality problems through: caulking, wrapping water heaters, sealing duct work, etc. Just like with new construction, Home Repair partner families will pay a no-interest loan, invest “sweat equity” and attend homeowner education programs.

Almost Home Program The Almost Home program was formed by a partnership between Greater Fox Cities Area Habitat for Humanity and Goodwill Industries of North Central Wisconsin. Program Coordinator Kristi Clover provides case management services to families by helping people qualify for and retain ownership of their Habitat homes and help struggling families become applicants in the Habitat program. Almost Home addresses the needs of prospective homeowners whose Habitat applications have been denied because of a lack of sufficient income or financial stability and assists existing Habitat homeowners who are struggling to make their monthly mortgage payments.
14
