3. The future we want: Presentation 3 3 Guess the answer Question The world’s population is currently 7 billion. What do you think it will be by 2050? Answer Predictions suggest that by 2050 the population will be 9 billion!

7. 7 Guess the answer Question How much have average temperatures increased by since the 1980s? Answer Average temperatures have increased by 0.8°C above pre- industrial levels. Scientists predict that a further rise of 2°C could have disastrous effects on the Earth’s plants and wildlife!

8. The future we want: Presentation 3 8 What’s the solution? Problem Burning fossil fuels to create energy releases carbon dioxide into the environment, which increases climate change. Solution Limit the amount of fossil fuels which can be burned, and build more wind farms to provide renewable energy. Reducing demand is also vital.

9. The future we want: Presentation 3 9 What’s the solution? Problem The population of the world is growing really quickly. More space is needed to produce food, particularly space for cattle. Solution The rainforests currently take up a lot of space. By clearing these, more grazing land could be provided for cattle.

Lots of economies have stopped growing, which means that people are starting to lose jobs. Solution Encourage people to buy more products, replacing any old products they have with new ones.
