4 How does a student move along the CIE pathway at Huanui College? Year 10Core subjects plus 2 options subjects Year 11 6 IGCSE _________________________________________________________ Year 124 AS Level [in exceptional case: 5AS subjects] Year 13 3 A2s + 1AS or 4 A2s Note: 1 A Level = AS + A2 in a single subject (Students finish with 3 or 4 A Levels overall)

6 AS and A Levels – Pathway Two-stage structure AS exam + A2 exam = A Level Year 1Year 2 Grades: A*, A, B, C, D, E, U Note: the highest grade attainable for AS is ‘A’ An A level counts as two subject units and an AS level counts as one subject unit. Students can include only their six best subject units when calculating their entry score. 50% of AS Mark Plus 50% of A2 Mark

7 University Entrance with CIE in NZ  General Standard 120 points in at least 3 AS Levels - minimum D Grade  2 D grades from 2 subjects on the List of Approved Cambridge Subjects Plus  a minimum grade of D in one further subject either from the Approved List or related to a domain on the National Qualifications Framework (NQF). Students may include points from one additional CIE subject to meet 120 points. BUT: some university courses have higher entry requirements

8 University Entrance with CIE in NZ  Literacy Standard Grade E in AS English subject ( Please note a ‘D’ grade is preferable and students who achieve an ‘E’ at AS may be required to complete the AELR course during their first year at Auckland University (click on the picture for more information)) NCEA Level 2 for selected students (with the required reading and writing credits)  Numeracy Standard Grade D in IGCSE Mathematics
