Development of Agri- Technology Name :Samuel Deon Mahadeo Class:3/3 Subject: biology
2
WHAT IS IT? Agri-technology is the tools chemicals and machinery used primarily or entirely in order to support agricultural enterprises
3
Why did it occur ? Agri-technology was introduced to feed our expanding, ever growing population. Most of our food are created from agricultural based produce so scientist are continually enforcing new methods to satisfy demands.
4
Some examples are …
5
Example The simple plowing too the most essential equipment of the farmer, until modern centuries. It was changed to the steel plow and then developed in to a gigantic plowing machine, the tractor ‘which was born to plow.’ It was fast, non tiring and mechanical labour, which was faster and had a longer usage unlike men and animal who get tired.
6
How does it affect the environment locally? -Waste is usually dumped in rivers (polluting our environment -Pesticides can destroy the eco system by killing harmless creatures and plants. -Pollution from machinery such as tractors, pollutes the air destroying the environment. -soil is compacted by tractors making it hard and impossible to grow crops.
7
How does it affect the environment globally? -Pollution from machines destroy the atmosphere leading to great problems such as global warming - Pollution from excess waste is usually dumped in rivers nearby which goes into the sea and pollutes the ocean worldwide - -Fertilizers with nitrogen denitrify and is released into the air
8
Short term consequences are.. -Food poisoning from pesticides -Crops being poisoned by chemicals which can harm us
9
Long term consequences are … -hormones injected into animals can cause health problems, like cancer and early puberty or growth -Animals can be deformed due to inbreeding -Land become overused, soil becomes infertile and crops will not be able to grow
10
Steps that can be taken to reduce the effect are STOP HOMONES INJECTIONS
11
Steps that can be taken to reduce the effect are -Use natural methods of getting rid or pest and parasites
12
Steps that can be taken to reduce the effect are -Usage of natural energy, instead of gas and fossil fuel in machinery and factories
