MULTIPLYING AND FACTORING CHAPTER 8 SECTION 2 AND 3
2
OBJECTIVES I can multiply a monomial by a polynomial I can factor a monomial from a polynomial. I can multiply two binomials using foil method.
3
DISTRIBUTIVE PROPERTY Distributive property can be used to multiply a monomial and a polynomial. How might you simplify the following: 5n(3n3 + n2 +8)
4
FACTORING Factoring a polynomial is like doing the distributive property in reverse. The goal is to divide everything in the problem by a common term.

7
MULTIPLYING BINOMIALS There are several ways to multiply binomials 1.Distributive Property 2.Using a Table 3.Foil Method 4.We will concentrate on using FOIL method.
8
FOIL METHOD F = First Terms O = Outer Terms I = Inner Terms L = Last Terms
9
FOIL (A + B) (C + D) = AC + AD +BC + BD You end up multiplying everything in the second term by everything in the first term.
