Perimeter & Surface Area Today’s lesson will cover…  finding perimeter and surface area of polygons  using formulas to solve problems involving surface area and perimeter

Perimeter  Definition Definition

Perimeter  How to find the perimeter of a square, given the length of one side.  A square has four sides of equal length. The formula for finding the perimeter of a square is 4*(Length of a Side).  Example Example

Perimeter  How to find the perimeter of a rectangle, given adjacent sides. rectangle  A rectangle has four sides with opposite sides being congruent. The formula for finding the perimeter is Side A + Side B + Side A + Side B. This could also be stated as 2*Side A + 2*Side B or 2*(Side A + Side B)  Example Example

Perimeter  How to find the perimeter of a triangle triangle  Example Example

Perimeter  How to find the perimeter of a trapezoid trapezoid  Example Example

Area definition

Area  How to find the area of a square, given the length of one side.  Example Example

Area  How to find the area of a rectangle, given adjacent sides. rectangle  A rectangle has four sides with opposite sides being congruent. The formula for finding the area is side A times side B (Area = length times width)  Example Example

Area  How to find the area of a triangle triangle  Example Example

Area  How to find the area of a trapezoid trapezoid  Example Example

 Application and practice (rectangles) Application and practice (rectangles) Application and practice (rectangles)
