Harriet was born in 1920. she was born into slavery with the name Araminta. Until she changed it to Harriet. Harriet was forced to marry John Tubman, while leaving her husband. She was often beat in slavery.

Tubman dedicated her life to saving slaves. She made saved over 300 slaves and made over 19 dangerous trips. Two of the 300 were her parents. Many slave owners were giving rewards if they found her. She never was caught!

She went in the civil war and helped as a cook, nurse, scout, and spy. Harriet also kept helping slaves by setting up schools, raising money, and making a home for the elderly. Harriet Tubman also was helping in women’s rights.
