2 Overview When you use a verb to form an adjective, it’s called a past participle. Ex. To close - closed (adj/past part) Ex. To open – opened (adj/ past part)

3 Forming Past Participles in Spanish
-AR Verbs Take the verb Drop the ending Add “-ado” Ex. Cerrar  Cerrado La puerta está cerrada.

4 Forming Past Participles in Spanish
-ER / -IR Verbs Take the verb Drop the ending Add “-ido” Ex. Perder  Perdido Nosotros estamos perdidos.

5 REMEMBER! Because these are adjectives, they must agree in NUMBER and GENDER 
