5. It’s Easy! 5 Meals are counted One at a time as each students receives a meal! Use the POS system when you have dedicated staff recording meals. Use the Tally Sheet when working alone or have no POS system. Estimates are never ok!

6. Common Errors Meal counts are estimated. Counts are taken after serving a set # of meals. Example: 10 meals recorded after every 10 meals. Counts recorded at the POS system after meal service. This is what bulk-entry is for. Recording meals by counting number of missing meals. This is not point-of-service accountability. Bulk Entries are not recorded on day of service (or day after for snack.) 6
