2 Possessive Nouns  A possessive noun shows who or what owns something.

3 Rules Noun ends in letter other than “s”.  Add an apostrophe and an “s”  The man’s car is here.  The school’s gym is big.  Jack’s hair is brown. Noun ends in “s”  Simply add an apostrophe after the “s”  Mr. Jones’ house is small.  The students’ work was good.  Moses’ staff was used to open the water for the Israelites.

4 Practice Possessive Nouns 1.Dog 2.Boys 3.City 4.Bat 5.Moses Dog’s – The dog’s bone was a tasty treat. Boys’ – The boys’ team was good. City’s – The city’s streets were big. Bat’s – The bat’s home was a cave. Moses’ – Moses’ staff turned the water to blood. The dog’s bone was a tasty treat!
