2. Habit # 1 be proactive Definition- I am a responsible person. I take initiative. I choose my actions, attitudes and moods. I do not blame others for my wrong actions. I do the right thing without being asked, even when no one is looking. This will impact my year at derby because: You will not get a detention for cheating or being mean to anyone.

3. Habit #2-begin with the end in mind Definition: I will plan ahead and set goals. I do things that make sense and make a difference. I am an important part of my classroom and school. I contribute to my schools mission and vision. I look for ways to be a good citizen. How this will impact your years at Derby: This will impact your years at derby because you will make goals and get good grades on a lot of things because you will know what you have to do. If you didn’t do that chances are you will get bad grades because you will forget to study.

4. Habit #3- put first things first Definition: I spend my time on studying and homework, this means I will not get interrupted. I set priorities make a schedule and follow my schedule. I am disciplined and organized. This will impact your time at Derby: This will impact your time at derby because, homework may seem like a lot but if you make time for your studies you will soon make a schedule and get everything done really easily.

5. Habit #4- think win-win Definition- I balance my courage for getting what I want with consideration for what others want. I make deposits in others emotional bank account. When conflicts arise I look for third alternative. This will impact your year at derby because… You will make new friends and make everybody feel good. You will most definitely be liked.

6. Habit #5- seek to understand then to be understood Definition- I listen to other peoples ideas and feelings. I try to see things from their view points. I listen to others without interrupting am confident in voicing my ideas. I look people in the eyes when talking. This will impact your year at derby because… You will obviously make new friends from other schools quickly and you will not be so shy you will not have any friends.

7. Habit #6-synergize Definition- I value other peoples strengths and learn from them. I get along with others even if they are different than me. I work well in groups. I seek out other peoples ideas to solve problems because I know that by teaching others we can create better solutions than any of us alone. I am humble. This will impact your year at derby because… You will get good comments from your teacher on power school.

8. Habit #7- sharpen the saw Definition- I take care of my body by eating right, exercising and getting sleep. I spend time with my family and friends. I learn in lots of ways, and lots of places not just school. I find meaningful ways to help others. This will impact your year at derby because… You will be healthy and be able to learn better and in a lot more places.
