12. 1978-79: Camp David Accords Camp David Accords – agreements between Israel and Egypt signed in 1978 that led to a peace treaty between those two countries in 1979 As part of the agreement, Israel returned the Sinai Peninsula to Egypt and Egypt recognizes Israel’s right to exist Egyptian President Sadat, U.S. President Carter, and Israeli Prime Minister Begin sign the Israeli-Egyptian Peace Agreement
