Standards ES- 6.2, 6.7f Students will learn more about parts of the system- the lithosphere and the landforms that make up its surface. Students will also read and interrupt simple maps.

Learning Outcome I can explain what the topography of an area includes I can identify the main types of landforms. I can explain how maps represent Earth’s surface and use them to locate points on the surface.

Longitude and Latitude Identify North Pole on the ball. Draw a ring around the center of the ball of the equator and mark with 0 and equator. Draw a line half way between the Equator and each pole, identify this as the 45 degree north and south latitude lines. Draw another line between the pole and each 45 degree latitude line. What is the value between 45 degrees and each pole? (90 degree- X)/ 2= 22.5+ X= Continue this until there are a sufficient amount number of lines are on the balloon. Make sure each line is labeled with North and South and the value in degrees.
