Paint/pixel-based Layers Type and Shape Layers –The move tool (to move and to duplicate) –How to save for the web PSD saves all your layers and is totally editable GIF and JPG (aka JPEG) will allow you to put your images on a web page: –GIF for graphics –JPG or JPEG for photographs In Class Assignment #9 (Today and tomorrow)

3 Paul Gauguin, 1848–1903 He spent a short time with Vincent van Gogh doing Impressionist art. Then he gradually abandoned imitative art for expressiveness through color. From 1891 until his death he lived and worked in Tahiti and elsewhere in the South Pacific.

9 Quick Write/Sketch 2/28/05 “It is the eye of ignorance that assigns a fixed and unchangeable color to every object; beware of this stumbling block. ” ~Paul Gauguin Sketch using the techniques of Local Color vs. Subjective Color (you should know what this means, it was in the Color Theory lecture and has to do with this quote--and will be on your quiz).

10 In-Class Assignment #9 (2/28/05-3/1/05) Read and understand the webpage at: http://daphne.palomar.edu/design/color.html Create 6 quick files in ImageReady, showing your understanding of the 6 color schemes that Mr. Saw describes on the above web page. –Name the files with what it is that you are demonstrating, such as "achromatic.psd," "chromatic_grays.psd," etc., and save them in your "PSD_originals" folder. –Then resave each file (using the "Save Optimized As…” command) as a gif or jpg and put it in your "practice" folder (yes, you will have 2 copies of each file) Then create a webpage called "color_schemes.html" that has all your jpg or gif's and an explanation in your own words of each color scheme.
