Web Servers and HTTP A web server is a computer system that processes requests via HTTP, the basic network protocol used to distribute information on the World Wide Web The Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) is an application protocol for distributed, collaborative, hypermedia information systems. HTTP is the foundation of data communication for the World Wide Web. Hypertext is structured text that uses logical links (hyperlinks) between nodes containing text. 8. Web Page A web page is a web document that is suitable for the World Wide Web and the web browser. A static web page is delivered exactly as stored, as web content in the web server's file system, while a dynamic web page is generated by a web application that is driven by server-side software.
