In your new groups…  Put words on your expectations to the coming project work and to each other. Use the questions below to open up the discussion about group working: 1. What is a good group? 2. How important is the professional knowledge to you? How important is the social aspect to you? 3. How much time will you spend on homework? 4. What is the best about working in a group? 5. When is it difficult to get the group work to function? 6. What will you do if a group member does not maintain your agreements? 7. 4 architectural technology and construction management 1st semester INT INTRO TO GROUP CONTRACT Balance your expectations –  Discuss your expectations to the group work, this concerns both socially and professionally socially  Is it important that the group contains social activities?  What about humour? professionally It is important that the group reaches consensus concerning meeting times and work discipline  When is something good enough? Be honest and open about your gene of perfection…  When do you expect to be present at school? What is your attitude about the Semester Syllabus defining the study as full time? 4Group Contract

5 architectural technology and construction management 1st semester INT INTRO TO GROUP CONTRACT 5 Get the group to function in the best possible way – It is important to the group’s cohesion that it can hold diversity with dialogue  How do you make sure, that everybody is heard in the group – this in particular, to avoid the strongest characters in the group to take over?  How to make decisions in the group? Be open to discussions, it always opens up the issue further when your listen to other’s opinion with a common set of values  How do you maintain the cordial relations?  What values do you priorities – in the cooperation with other people? Group Contract

6 architectural technology and construction management 1st semester INT INTRO TO GROUP CONTRACT Clarification of Team Goals/ Set of Values  A tool to clarify the team’s goals/ set of values is to use the prioritizing sheet to the right  First individually, you must consider what values that are important to you in connection with group work  Then in the group, you must consider together what values should characterize your group work and thereby form the basis for your group work for the coming assignment  These considerations form the basis of your group contract 6Group Contract

7 architectural technology and construction management 1st semester INT INTRO TO GROUP CONTRACT 7 Organize the project work – focusing on operation  Organize project meetings to match the progress of the group’s work and to keep everybody informed about the progress of the work  The planning of your work could feature prominently on your agenda focusing on learning  Be aware that group activity not necessarily ensures that everybody has the same amount of knowledge!  Sharing knowledge therefore is just as important as the planning when you have project meetings Group Contract

8 architectural technology and construction management 1st semester INT INTRO TO GROUP CONTRACT Sharing knowledge  Sharing knowledge is about making sure that the knowledge each of you learn in the process reaches all members of the group  It is your common responsibility in the group that everybody is covered with knowledge  Therefore, consider how you achieve the common knowledge bank - in the best way  Talk about, in the group, how you learn in the best way  Plan knowledge sharing meetings and take the time it requires! 8Group Contract
