This presentation is intended to to given to teachers, as we both have the opportunity to use professional development time to spend with them. The slides will demonstrate how set up and use edmodo as a teaching tool in the classroom. Just as importantly, it will be to sell teachers the benefits it has by using it in the classroom setting. Edmodo offers the opportunity for students to interact with the teacher or peers away from school in a meaningful way. The design of edmodo is familiar to many of our students since it set up very similar to facebook. Teachers like the security and the potential it has for the social aspect. This tool allows for the quietest student in class to have and voice their opinion. When a the student or teacher is gone, they can have access to an assignment or activity from home, mobile phone or tablet.

Other uses for Edmodo 1. Create a "science fair" group and give code to all students to see projects. 2. Create a "playground" where students can share funny happenings and/or quotes. 3. Create a "current events" group where students can post for others to see. 4. 21st century field trip - assign in small groups with a phone - post scavenger hunt questions for students. 5. Create a "milestone" group(s) for schedules, games, birthdays, or other events
