“ 9 And this I pray that your love may abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment, 10 that you may approve the things that are excellent, that you may be sincere and without offense till the day of Christ, 11 being filled with the fruits of righteousness which are by Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.” Philippians 1:9-11

“For of Him and through Him and to Him are all things, to whom be glory forever. Amen.” Romans 11:36

God uses many names to refer to Himself for He has many qualities, characteristics, attributes, activities, and traits that He hopes to reveal through His names.

By learning His names, we may know Him better.

Lordship demands OBEDIENCE.

If we say that Christ is our Lord, our lifestyle should back up our claim.

“But why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord’ and not do the things I say?” Luke 6:46

Lordship must be HEARTFELT.

If it is genuine, it will manifest itself in outward obedience.

“But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear.” 1 Peter 3:15

Lordship is a LIFESTYLE – a lifetime walk.

“Knowing that you were not redeemed with perishable things like silver or gold from your futile way of life inherited from your forefathers, but with precious blood, as of a lamb unblemished and spotless, the blood of Christ.” 1 Peter 1:18-19

“For you have been bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body.” 1 Corinthians 6:20

“As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving.” Colossians 2:6-7

The more we know Him, the more we will love Him, live for Him, and submit to Him with perfect obedience.

What areas of your life have you not submitted yet to the Lordship of Jesus Christ?

Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Matthew 7:21-23

Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ Matthew 7:21-23

And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’” Matthew 7:21-23

Living and loving the Father requires willful obedience.

“As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love. By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples.” John 15:9,8

Making disciples is the main core of His plan for us from the very beginning of life on earth.

Our life should be constantly and consistently guided by the Scripture as our ultimate authority, and by the Holy Spirit helping us and comforting us in time of need.

We should always be ready to give testimony of the reason for the hope that is within us (1 Peter 3:15) and to disciple others to walk in His ways.

A disciple… A. Puts Jesus first in all things Mark 8:34-38

Put off our self-centeredness. Put on Christ-centeredness.

A disciple… B. Follows Jesus’ teachings John 8:31-32

Obedience is the supreme test of faith (1 Samuel 28:18). Jesus is the perfect example of obedience as He lived a life of complete obedience to the Father even to the point of death (Philippians 3:6-8)

A disciple… C. Is fruitful John 15:5-8

Our job is NOT to produce fruit. Our job is to abide in Christ. When we do, the Holy Spirit will produce the fruit- the fruit is the result of obedience.

A disciple… D. Loves other disciples John 13:34-35

Our love for other believers is the evidence of being a member of God’s family (1 John 3:10) Let us think more highly of others than of ourselves, and look out for their interests (Philippians 2:3-4).

A disciple… E. Evangelizes – Makes Disciples Matthew 28:18-20

We are to share our faith and tell nonbelievers about the wonderful changes Jesus Christ has made in our lives.

No matter what our maturity level in the Christian life, we have something to offer! Too often, we believe the lie from Satan that we don't really know enough or haven't been a Christian long enough to make a difference. Not true!

Some of the most enthusiastic representatives of the Christian life are new believers who have just discovered the awesome love of God. They may not know a lot of Bible verses or the "accepted" way of saying things, but they have experienced the love of the living God, and that is exactly what we are to share.
